What To Bring To ABBW 2011

Posted in: Updates | 18 Comments | Posted on by Kimmi

Can you believe that ABBW is just over a week away?!? Months of planning and excitement are about to be realised in the most beautiful roadshow Sydney has ever seen.

To make sure you are fully prepared for the big event, we are providing you some insight, below, of things you will need to bring with you for ABBW.

If you have any questions about this list, please leave a comment below.

Absolute Essentials

· Photo Identification – In order to receive your ABBW pass, as well as your IMATS pass, please make sure you bring some form of photo identification (eg drivers licence, passport, student union card, keypass etc).

· Business cards – Officially these are not ‘essential’ but if you want to make the most of your time at ABBW, you will need them. Not only will you be meeting other bloggers, you will also be meeting some of the biggest brands / people in the beauty industry. Make sure your cards have your name, blog address, email address/contact details and any other information you think is relevant, i.e. Twitter and Facebook page links.

· A great big smile and an awesomesauce attitude. Seriously, you will be networking and mingling with 85 of the best beauty bloggers in the country. So bring a positive attitude with you. It’s compulsory!

What to pack
(if you are travelling from interstate and/or staying away from home in Sydney)

· Checked-in luggage / Large suitcase. For those of you hoping to get away with carry-on luggage, let me warn you now (without giving too much away), the goodies you will receive will outweigh any airlines carry-on weight limit. Please bring check-in luggage. We cannot store and/or post your goody bags to you.

· Pack light. Do not stuff your suitcase with ten different outfits. Leave as much room as possible for product that you will be taking back home. Plan your outfits ahead of time to avoid bringing unnecessary items.

· Appropriate clothing. Sydney in late September has an average temperature of 19degrees and is mostly sunny. Please check forecasts the week of ABBW to plan your outfits. Please see below for further details about the dress code for each event.

· Comfortable shoes. There isn’t alot of walking involved in the weekend (aside from IMATS) but make sure you pack either flats, sneakers or any other comfortable shoes.

Dress code for events

Generally, the dress code for the events is neat, business casual. Be tidy, be presentable and don’t look like y ou’ve just been dragged out backwards from a hedge. Or I will be tempted to bring out the kitty lick.

For IMATS… wear comfortable, appropriate clothing with flats or walking shoes.

For Beauty Media Event… same clothing as IMATS. You will not have an opportunity to change clothes between IMATS and the Beauty Media Event. If you are wearing really casual shoes to IMATS, bring some nicer flats or heels to change into for this event.

For Saturday Dinner Event… not quite black tie but reasonably formal and ‘dinner-esque’. No denim under any circumstances. Same goes for thongs, t-shirts or anything you would wear to the beach.

For Breakfast, Masterclass and Keynote Speaker… you will be wearing the same ensemble for all three events. As these events will have you sitting for long periods, I’d advise wearing something comfortable and relaxed, but still smart-business.

Bear in mind that you are not only representing your blog, but beauty bloggers in general. How you present yourself will be the first thing people see about your blog. Remember, your blog is your brand,  so represent ladies and do us (and yourself) proud!

I can’t wait! It’s going to be a great weekend. I have 2 q’s
1. Where will the Pre-registration be on the Friday night?
2. Where is the evening event on the Saturday night being held?
Thanks!

    Hey Natalie,

    In short ….

    1. You will be notified of the exact registration location on the morning of Friday, 23 September via email. There will be a final email with nitty gritty details going out to all attendees that morning regarding registration. What I can tell you for now is that it will be at the Novotel in Darling Harbour.
    2. At registration, you will receive a complete information pack that contains the final itinerary, including exact times and locations. The location for that and some of the other events are strictly confidential to ABBW attendees (see below as to why). I can tell you it is in the CBD within walking and/or public transport distance from Darling Harbour.

As mentioned on the itinerary page, we are fearful of gatecrashers after hearing some rumblings in the blogaverse. We also want the finer details to be a surprise because it will add to the magic of the weekend. If you have any specific concerns, like travelling, walking distances, etc, let us know. We are here to assist you in having the best weekend ever!
    :)

Can’t wait! I’m just wondering, would one large sized suitcase suffice or would we need an extra one? Don’t want to be unprepared! x

Kimmi says: September 20, 2011 at 6:17 pm | Reply

That would all depend on how much you are bringing in that one large suitcase. If it is empty, that will be enough …. but i guess that will also depend on how much you buy at IMATS. No, one large should be fine, but don’t hold it against me.

I feel like I’m the most excited Beauty Blogger out there… until I realise there are 85 other beauty bloggers saying exactly the same! LOL
How good is it that we can all squeal and giggle together!
